Idea for communicating with general users and within ARKA:;ajjj0

  • dv: Zulip is Slack-like but less encumbered -- https://zulip.com/plans/
  • dw: i have Zulip experience: OSS, good export policy, generally good
  • jk: important that it has keeps long history of discussions
  • dw: regular review of unanswered zulip issues so things don't get ignored
  • rw: yes, i like this idea
  • kh: maybe "spin off persistence statements group" should be generalized to "deal with persistence statements"

Need to make ARK infrastructure less depending on US-based org

  • jk: can production of NAAN registry take place outside CDL?
  • dv: infrastructure for NAANs boils down to a small server, a google form, github actions
  • jk: what if it were hosted elsewhere, eg, U. of Utah
  • dw: University of Utah? Or github.com/arks-org ? Did I miss something?
  • dv: subtle things are managing the secrets, eg, API keys
  • dv: CDL needs to manage the DNS entries
  • jk: what about hosting in the cloud
  • dv: they're tiny applications could be hosted anywhere
  • jk: what about security built around it
  • dv: any cloud provider could do it, including load balancing
  • jk: what about replica set up
  • dv: trivial to set up a replica; the tricky part is DNS; in theory there could be a NAAN target test
  • dv: gh actions could be used to test NAANs using the test ARKs
  • dw: 3 independent implementations with cryptographic signatures to shore up trustability?
  • dw: I meekly and very tentatively volunteer to consider looking into having my Danish company prototype a secondary/mirror/what-have-you global resolver.
  • dv: I can answer questions from dw and get it going
  • jk: maybe we can get some documentation, eg, a README file
