💡 What:

  • Converted all images to WebP format.
  • Resized recipe images to 288x288 (2x density for 144px display).
  • Added loading="lazy" and explicit width/height attributes to recipe images.
  • Added fetchpriority="high" and explicit width/height to the hero image.
  • Added object-fit: cover to CSS to prevent distortion.

🎯 Why:

  • Reduces file sizes significantly (Hero image: 792K -> 91K).
  • Prevents Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) with explicit dimensions.
  • Improves LCP with fetchpriority="high" on hero.
  • Saves bandwidth and improves initial load with loading="lazy".

📊 Impact:

  • Total image payload reduced by ~85%.
  • Improved Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS).

🔬 Measurement:

  • Verify image formats and sizes in Network tab.
  • Verify loading="lazy" and attributes in Elements panel.
