WorkNote is a free note-taking app that works entirely in your browser — no account, no server, no subscription. Your notes are yours, always.
Most note apps store your data on their servers. WorkNote doesn't. Everything lives on your device — and when you share a note, it goes directly to the other person with no middleman.

Enter a display name — this is what collaborators will see when you share notes with them. That's all the setup there is.
Click + New to create your first note. Type / anywhere in the editor to see everything you can insert — headings, bullet lists, code blocks, images, and more.
WorkNote's editor works like Notion. Click anywhere and start typing, or use the / menu to insert different types of content.
Things you can add to a note:
- Headings (H1, H2, H3)
- Bullet and numbered lists
- Toggle / collapsible sections
- Code blocks
- Images — just paste or drag them in
- Quotes and callouts
Your notes save automatically as you type. No save button needed.
Keep things tidy by organizing your notes into folders.
- Click + next to FOLDERS to create a new folder
- Click a folder to see only its notes
- Click All Notes to see everything at once
- Hover a folder and click ··· to rename or delete it
Every note has a share button in the top right corner.
- Click the share icon on a note
- Click Generate link
- Copy the link and send it to someone — via WhatsApp, email, wherever you like
The link contains everything the other person needs to open and read the note. Nobody else can access it, even if they see the link URL — the decryption key is embedded in the link and never touches any server.
Toggle the note to Public if you want it to be discoverable by anyone on the network. Great for publishing guides, announcements, or anything you want the world to see.
In the share dialog, paste the collaborator's public key (they can find it on their profile page) into the collaborators field. They'll be able to edit the note and their changes will sync to you in real time.
WorkNote can be installed on your device so it opens like a native app — no browser bar, works offline.
On desktop (Chrome / Edge): Look for the install icon in the address bar and click it.
On iPhone / iPad: Tap the Share button in Safari → Add to Home Screen.
On Android: Tap the three-dot menu in Chrome → Add to Home Screen or Install app.
Once installed, WorkNote works fully offline. Your notes are always available even without an internet connection.
Tap your avatar in the top corner to open your profile. Here you can:
- Change your display name
- Copy your public key — share this with collaborators so they can give you edit access to their notes
- Back up your private key — this is how WorkNote identifies you. If you lose it you lose access to your synced notes. Keep it somewhere safe like a password manager
- Your private notes are end-to-end encrypted. Nobody — including us — can read them.
- WorkNote has no servers. Notes sync through open Nostr relays which store only encrypted data.
- There are no ads, no tracking, no analytics.
- Your private key never leaves your device.
- Lost a shared note? Ask the sender to resend the link — the link is everything.
- Switching devices? Back up your private key from the profile page and restore it on your new device to keep your identity and synced notes.
- No internet? No problem. WorkNote works fully offline and syncs automatically when you reconnect.
