Alternatively we could set run-on-projects instead, I think it's equivalent.

Gecko uses run-on-projects, firefox-ios uses by-project. In the end I can't think of anything in this case that would weigh in favor of either 🤷.

Running the cron job every day on the staging repo is unnecessary and wasteful, it can be triggered via hook as necessary instead.
