## Project description [what it does, why it is valuable, origin and history, ongoing development]:
Project Salus is an open-source Responsible AI toolkit under the Linux Foundation that helps organizations deploy AI systems ethically and securely. It provides guardrails to mitigate risks like privacy breaches, bias, security attacks, and hallucinations, while ensuring transparency and explainability. Originally developed by Infosys and donated to the Linux Foundation, Salus was created to address growing challenges in responsible AI adoption. Today, it continues to evolve through community contributions, focusing on enhanced security, fairness, and compliance features to support safe and trustworthy AI across industries.

## Statement on alignment with LF AI’s mission:
Project Salus aligns with LF AI & Data’s mission by promoting open-source innovation and collaboration in artificial intelligence. It advances responsible AI practices through transparency, fairness, and security, empowering organizations to adopt AI ethically while fostering a global community-driven approach to trustworthy AI development.
