Resolve useless-cast & old-style-cast warnings

This PR resolves warnings emitted during building the unit test app with -Wuseless-cast and -Wold-styld-cast.
Also, errors in updating apt repositories have been fixed since Debian Buster repositories have been moved as outdated.
