News in Pictures

For the Stanford Treehacks Hackathon in 2016, we gathered all of the front page images from the New York Times in 2016. We then ran each of those images through Google's label detection API, to identify the general theme of each image. News In Pictures is a word cloud of all these labels taken from the front page images of the New York Times. If you try clicking on key word, it will take you to example images for that key word.

This was built in Python, and is hosted on Google App Engine. We used Google's Vision API to label images.
