Common install locations
Platform Path Steam (default) C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DescendersSteam (custom library) D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\DescendersXbox / Game Pass C:\XboxGames\Descenders\ContentNot sure where your install is? In Steam, right-click Descenders → Manage → Browse local files and copy the path from Explorer.
Descenders ToolKit works on the Xbox PC (Game Pass) version of Descenders, but requires a few extra steps due to Windows App Store permissions.
- MelonLoader cannot be installed directly into the default
WindowsAppsfolder as it is permission-locked by Windows - In the Xbox app, go to Descenders → Manage → Files → Change drive and move the game to a drive you own (e.g.
D:\) - Point MelonLoader at
Descenders.exemanually using the Add Game option in the MelonLoader installer - Set
<DescendersPath>inGamePath.propsto wherever you moved the game
⚠️ The Xbox / Game Pass version is largely untested. Most features work but some behaviour may differ from the Steam version.
- MelonLoader 0.5.7 choose MelonLoader 0.5.7 from the drop down menu
- Descenders (Steam or Microsoft Store / Xbox PC)
- Run the MelonLoader installer, select your Descenders executable and choose version 0.5.7 — it will not work on other versions
- Launch the game once to let MelonLoader populate, then close it
- Download
DescendersToolKit.dllfrom the Releases page - Drop it into
Descenders/Mods/ - Launch the game and press F6 to open the menu
If updating from an older version, delete any previous
DescendersModMenu.dllorDescendersToolKit.dllfrom your Mods folder first.
MelonLoader and the toolkit also work on the Microsoft Store and Xbox PC (Game Pass) version of Descenders. The installer won't auto-detect the Xbox version, so you need to point it there manually.
Note: The Microsoft Store version is largely untested. MelonLoader installs correctly and the mod menu loads and functions, but not every mod has been fully tested on this version. If you encounter issues specific to the Microsoft Store build, please report them on Discord or GitHub.
The default Microsoft Store install location (C:\Program Files\WindowsApps) is hidden and heavily permission-locked, making it difficult to access game files. It is strongly recommended to install Descenders to a custom folder on any drive before proceeding.
To change where Xbox games install:
- Open the Xbox app → click your profile picture → Settings → Installation options
- Change the default install location to a folder you have full access to (e.g.
D:\XboxGames) - If Descenders is already installed in the default location, uninstall it and reinstall — it will now go to your chosen folder
This avoids all permission issues and makes the Mods folder easy to access.
If you've installed to a custom folder, simply navigate there in File Explorer. Otherwise:
- Open the Xbox app on your PC
- Go to Library, find Descenders, click the three dots (⋯)
- Select Manage then click Files — this will open the game's install folder in File Explorer
If using the default WindowsApps location, you may need to grant yourself folder permissions. Right-click the game folder → Properties → Security → Edit → Add your user account → grant Full Control.
- Run the MelonLoader 0.5.7 installer
- MelonLoader will not auto-detect the Xbox version — click the Select Game or Add Game button in the installer
- Navigate to your Descenders install folder and select Descenders.exe
- Make sure version 0.5.7 is selected and install
- Launch the game once to let MelonLoader populate its folders, then close it
- Download
DescendersToolKit.dllfrom the Releases page and drop it into theModsfolder inside your Descenders directory - Launch the game and press F6 to open the menu
This has been tested and confirmed working. Despite previous reports that mods are not possible on the Microsoft Store version, MelonLoader installs and runs correctly when pointed to the game manually.

Bike Physics
- Acceleration — on/off toggle with 10-level slider

- Bike Switcher — cycle between Enduro, Downhill, Hardtail and BRNZL Enduro. Starring the Bike row in Favourites bundles the Bike picker, Trick Source picker and Trick Set Swap toggle together

The mod menu can be repositioned, resized and made more or less transparent to suit your setup. Settings are saved automatically to UserData/DescendersModMenu/MenuLayout.json and restored every session.
All settings persist to UserData/DescendersModMenu/BikeStats.json. Your last saved settings auto-load when you first spawn in — no need to press Load manually.
Favourites are stored separately in UserData/DescendersModMenu/Favourites.json and are independent of the main save system — global reset does not clear your favourites.
Saved: all levels, all toggle states, tyre settings, tyre pressure, suspension, game modifiers, bike/player/wheel size, invisible states, torch state and intensity, camera shake, center of mass, fly mode speeds, brake balance, headlights only, UI remover, screenshot mode, menu layout and more.
Not saved (always reset per-map): Graphics post-processing, Sky section (sky colour preset, storm, rain), Time of Day, Game Modes, Ghost Replay, ESP.
Scene persistence: Active mods are snapshotted when you leave a map and automatically reapplied when you spawn into the next one. Each map loads with its own native time of day and graphics.
The toolkit checks for new versions on GitHub when the game launches. If a newer release is available, a green notification appears in the menu header. The check runs on a background thread and never affects game performance.
