🕯️ Wheel of the Year — Home Assistant Integration

A Home Assistant custom integration that brings the Wheel of the Year to your smart home dashboard. It creates sensor entities for all eight Sabbats, moon phases, zodiac positions, planetary transits, solar cycle activity, and seasons — plus a stunning custom Lovelace card that renders the full interactive wheel.

Installation

Via HACS (recommended)

1. Add this repository as a custom repository in HACS under Integrations
2. Install Wheel of the Year
3. Restart Home Assistant
4. Go to Settings → Devices & Services → Add Integration, search for "Wheel of the Year", and click Submit
5. Register the Lovelace card resource (see Step 3 below)

Manual Installation

Copy the custom_components/wheel_of_the_year/ folder to your Home Assistant config/custom_components/ directory:

Restart Home Assistant, then add the integration via Settings → Devices & Services.

Step 3: Restart and Add the Card

The integration automatically registers the Lovelace card resource on startup — no manual resource registration needed. Just restart Home Assistant and the card will be available.

Step 4: Add the Card to Your Dashboard

Add the card to any dashboard using YAML:

Notes

• All astronomical calculations are approximate (simplified orbital models)
• Sabbat dates use traditional fixed dates; solar sabbats may vary by ±1 day in practice
• Planetary positions use mean longitude approximations — suitable for general zodiac placement, not precision astrology
• Solar cycle data is based on Solar Cycle 25 predictions and uses a sinusoidal approximation
• The integration has no external dependencies and requires no API keys
• Updates every 5 minutes by default
