Check compatibility with NumPy 2.4 and Pandas 3.0

NumPy [2.4.0rc1](https://github.com/numpy/numpy/releases/tag/v2.4.0rc1) and Pandas [v3.0.0rc0](https://github.com/pandas-dev/pandas/releases/tag/v3.0.0rc0) just released. It might be good to check compatibility before their stable releases are tagged and everybody switches over.
