On Ubuntu 26.04 beta, light mode icons are too contrasted

In the beta version of Ubuntu 26.04 with the latest version of Yaru, the icons in the light theme are too dark.

Furthermore, the orange in this case is completely different from the Nautilus icon accent and is also different from the color of the menu pills.

I followed the thread about the icon restyling and was very interested, but seeing the result, I don't understand how anyone could think they're beautiful or comfortable to look at.

One more question: is there a reason why they chose to add a high-contrast border to the medium and small icons? I don't find it very consistent, even when compared to what Mac and Windows designers do.

"Too contrasted" ? Don't be affraid to say they are ugly as F.. and not only the default ones.
All accent color variants are.. "too contrasted"

People complained when it lacked contrast and now people complain that it has too much contrast. I guess you can tweak it in the middle only for the light variants. @3v1n0 what do you think?

Dark variants seems ok, the problem is only with light variants. The first version you proposed for me was very good, I honestly didn't notice all these contrast problems. among other things, there are guidelines that determine the contrasts to be used for good readability, I haven't checked them but since they are included I see no reason to increase it further.
If I compare the icons of the first proposal with the Mac icons the contrast seems practically the same to me, Windows probably has little contrast but in years no one has ever made any changes, so...

I personally hated the gray icons that were introduced from day one. Combined with the completely gray Gnome theme and its monochrome icons, I feel like I'm using a Kindle and not a PC.

I'm currently testing the latest version on my ubuntu 25.10 (I've installed the icons manually) and are significantly better, perfect on dark mode, perhaps still too accentuated in light mode, but definitely better than before.

It seems to me it's getting closer to just right (or maybe I'm developing a sort of design-related Stockholm syndrome?) I liked the first lighter colors, personally, and while the increased contrast is nice in theory, I still don't understand why they had to swing so dark. Also, are they supposed to be orange or a slightly yellowish red? Because they're getting dangerously close.

Love the direction it's going though.

I agree with @sedax90, it's perfect in Dark mode but too accentuated in light mode.

I also agree, the icons are too dark in light mode. It looks really weird...
