TOON Implementation: Real-Time Financial Transparency Project

I wanted to share an interesting real-world implementation of TOON format. I've added TOON export support to bobsdebitcard.com - a radical transparency project that publishes real-time debit card transactions.

Project Overview

This website displays every purchase I make in real-time via Klutch Card API webhooks. The dataset is available for public download in three formats:

• JSON: 92.4 KB (251 transactions)
• CSV: 34.9 KB (251 transactions)
• TOON: 70.6 KB (251 transactions)

Implementation Details

• Backend: AWS Lambda with @toon-format/toon npm package
• Auto-generates all three formats on every transaction (webhook + daily sync)
• Download button available on desktop browsers
• Listed in llms.txt for AI crawler discovery

This is a fantastic real‑world use of TOON – thanks a lot for sharing all the details and links.

I really like a few things about this setup in particular:

• Perfect match for the format's goals: a public, append‑only, uniform transaction log is exactly the kind of dataset TOON was designed for. JSON stays as the “system of record”, CSV covers classical data tooling, and TOON gives you a lossless, LLM‑friendly view on the same data.
• Clear three‑way export: having JSON / CSV / TOON side by side on the same dataset is super valuable as a reference point (both for size comparisons and for people experimenting with LLM prompts).

If you run into any rough edges in the encoder/decoder or spot places where the spec could be clearer, I'd definitely be interested in follow‑up issues or PRs.

If we have an "awesome-toon" repo or public project list in the future, I'd love to link to bobsdebitcard.com. But for now, there is no such page.
