Question about installation of provider using Spyder from the installers

Hi, I have just pip installed the langchain-provider but I could find it in my previous Spyder. I guess if I could only see this in the subsidiary new spyder at the installment ? My previous spyder is v6.0.1.

Hi @Yu-kio sorry for the late response! So you had Spyder installed and tried to install with pip this completions provider, right? How did you install your previous Spyder installation? I would say the this package got installed in a different Python environment than the one where your previous Spyder installation is located and since it requires Spyder now you have to Spyder installations? 🤔

Not totally sure to fully understand your setup/the problem you are facing but any other info in order to better understand what you are experiencing is appreciated. Let us know!

Wow， thanks for your very kind response, which i hadn't expected. As u mentioned above, I have installed the Spyder standalone version and use my own python environment, which is installed separately, before the Spyder. in details, my spyder help page shows the info below. And my python environment is install in AppData, and I manifest in the screen, the version of which may not be consistent with the subsidiary python in spyder. Will this cause trouble on the langchain-provider? Thank you for the new info @Yu-kio ! The thing is that langchain-provider and Spyder need to be installed over the same environment so for the moment support for this package is not avaialble for Spyder installations done through the installers sorry :/

To use langchain-provider you will need to install and launch Spyder from the Python environment where you installed langchain-provider.

For anyone looking for a local-only alternative that doesn't need OpenAI keys: spyder-ai-assistant works with Ollama directly:

pip install spyder-ai-assistant

It provides both a chat panel and inline code completions. Still in beta but actively developed.
