[Enhancement]: Internal system audio rfecording

What changes would you like?

I have used Audacity for over 20 years, BUT after Ubuntu 24.05 it has become more and more difficult to record audio from the laptop internal audio.
Now I have Ubuntu 25.04 and the ONLY I can record is some very irritating noise from the built in microphone! WHY????

Could you provide some details about your laptop (manufacturer, model, CPU, etc)? It would also be helpful if you could capture some logs from Audacity (or from some of the Linux audio stack: alsa, pulseaudio) while you're experiencing this issue.

One thing to check is if you are using the alsa snap interface - it's optional for the Audacity snap. If you're not using it that is definitely worth a try.

To see which interfaces you currently have connected:

snap connections audacity

To connect the alsa interface (if it is not already):

sudo snap connect audacity:alsa

If it is already connected you could try disconnecting it:

sudo snap disconnect audacity:alsa
