Option to use dircolors

Is it possible to set the color theme of bat to the dircolors defined by the shell?
I am aware for the color theme feature in bat but I do not want to set a specific color, but rather want bat to follow the defined dircolors.
I noticed when using pistol which in turn uses chroma that the later does exactly that and all syntax highlighting matches my other applications. Is there any way to get the same result with bat?

I don't know what dircolors are, but have you tried the ANSI or Base16 themes? They should use colors defined by your terminal emulator
