Change to source file location

Hi, I wish Positron could have a feature that's similar to the RStudio setwd() "change to source file location" button. Thanks!

We have something pretty close; you can right click on a directory in the Explorer view and set it as the working directory:

We do not currently have a gesture that operates on source files, though. I'll file that!

Agree, better yet, it should be the file location by default, but modifiable should do it. Maybe allow us to run one ipython session per document.

The setting in preferences is ignored btw.

We do have work in flight this month to make it easier to launch a console session for a Python script in its own directory, if you'd like to look at #3156 and add a 👍 if that describes what you're looking for.

We have thought a lot about this, and are very interested in this idea, similar to uv's support for associating a specific interpreter with a specific file. Would you want to open a feature request describing your use case for this?

For notebooks, we did a fair amount of recent work on that setting. Can you share what version of Positron you are using, to make sure you are on latest with those fixes? If you are, can you share more details of the problem you are observing?
