Hi @zuowei593. Thanks for your PR.

I'm waiting for a pingcap member to verify that this patch is reasonable to test. If it is, they should reply with /ok-to-test on its own line. Until that is done, I will not automatically test new commits in this PR, but the usual testing commands by org members will still work. Regular contributors should join the org to skip this step.

Once the patch is verified, the new status will be reflected by the ok-to-test label.

I understand the commands that are listed here.

This pull request enhances the TiDB Cloud documentation by explicitly listing the tidb_dml_type system variable and its operational characteristics. The change ensures that users have clear information regarding the limitations and read-only status of this specific DML type setting in the cloud environment.

Highlights

  • Documentation Update: Added tidb_dml_type to the limited-sql-features.md file, clarifying its status as having "No limitation" and being "Read-only" within TiDB Cloud.

🧠 New Feature in Public Preview: You can now enable Memory to help Gemini Code Assist learn from your team's feedback. This makes future code reviews more consistent and personalized to your project's style. Click here to enable Memory in your admin console.

Changelog

    • Added a new row for tidb_dml_type in the table of limited SQL features, indicating 'No limitation' and 'Read-only'.
Activity
  • The author, zuowei593, initiated this pull request with a standard template, indicating a straightforward documentation update.

Code Review

This pull request adds the tidb_dml_type system variable to the list of limited SQL features on TiDB Cloud, marking it as read-only for Starter and Essential clusters. The change is correctly placed and formatted.

Following the repository's documentation style guide, I've added a comment suggesting an update to another file to ensure documentation completeness and avoid user confusion.

Additionally, please note that the required TiDB version information is missing from the pull request description. Please fill that in.

| `tidb_ddl_reorg_batch_size` | No limitation | Read-only [^10] |
| `tidb_ddl_reorg_priority` | No limitation | Read-only [^10] |
| `tidb_ddl_reorg_worker_cnt` | No limitation | Read-only [^10] |
| `tidb_dml_type` | No limitation | Read-only [^10] |

This correctly adds the limitation for tidb_dml_type. To ensure documentation completeness and consistency, please also add a note in system-variables.md indicating that this variable is read-only for TiDB Cloud Starter and Essential clusters. This helps users who might only read that document and avoids potential confusion.

References
  1. The style guide emphasizes completeness in documentation (line 14). A corresponding note in system-variables.md is needed to make the documentation about this limitation complete. (link)
  2. The style guide suggests making changes if something might confuse a new user (line 63). The lack of a note in system-variables.md could be confusing. (link)
