I saw this El Niño blog post talking about the “RONI” (sounds like pasta, but it’s the “relative ONI”). https://www.climate.gov/news-features/blogs/enso/march-2025-enso-update-neutral-conditions-expected-soon

It seems like a nice way to compare different ENSO events. If this is of interest (maybe for including in pacea, or holding onto the data link) the monthly values can be found in the article footnote, and at this link: cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/data/indices/Rnino34.ascii.txt as well as seasonal values here: cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/data/indices/RONI.ascii.txt
