Just tried Gemini CLI + ACP in Zed.
Super cool!

But there's no way to see, let alone manage, which model is currently used.
I asked in the chat, "Which model are you?" and it responded Gemini 1.5 Pro (and said it is the latest model)

The lack of visibility is problematic, especially since Gemini tends to rate limit and switch to Gemini Flash frequently.
Also would be awesome to have some sort of visibility over the quota that has been used

Adding model selection to the protocol is one of our near-term items, and we definitely want to help make this visible for all agents that support it. Especially knowing when you are in the default/auto mode where fallbacks are possible.

Bumping this - we'd love to make ACP work with Droids, but we've noticed supporting models isn't first class. @benbrandt

Hi, we have unstable support in the protocol/sdks, but I don't see the schema needing to change. It's on my todo list to stabiliize (meaning document) it this week, but feel free to give it a try and give feedback if it doesn't work for you.

We have it supported in Zed and both the claude code and codex adapters are using it if you want to take a look for reference.

any update on this, this is one of the major blocks in using various providers as we don't know which model is being used and we cannot switch models as well. Another major thing is context and pricing. @benbrandt anything on this?
