1. Open the app
2. Open any supported file
3. Observe the circular loading indicator freezing
4. Open System Monitor and observe write operation by Opencomic till storage gets 100% consumed

Expected Behavior

Supported comic files smoothly opening for viewing

Actual Behavior

App Freeze, Unauthorized file write

Does the file open correctly with other applications? For example, with File Roller.

You can check in the console if there is any error in OpenComic: Debug > Toggle DevTools > Console. You can also try running OpenComic from the terminal to see if any error appears there as well.

App freeze and crash happens on all files during read, even the smallest files while opening.
Note: Files open correctly on other readers

It seems that GetVSyncParametersIfAvailable() may be the cause of the problem. I've seen several people reporting this error in the electron repository and in Chromium issues, it appears to be a Wayland-related issue.

Could you try launching OpenComic in the following ways?

./OpenComic-1.6.5.AppImage --disable-gpu

QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb ./OpenComic.AppImage --disable-gpu

You can also try this build, which includes a newer version of electron (v40.1.0 vs v37.8.0).
