Change calendar color palette

The current choice of predefined colors in the calendar color-picker is (subjectively) horrible. They are all to indifferent and I miss a well chosen palette like Google Calendar provides it. I haven't found an easy way to change it despite some research.

Describe the solution you'd like

Provide a way to change the calendar color palette (color-picker__simple) through the UI. If I researched correctly they are generated right now based on the theme color of nextcloud!? Either way, I would prefer to choose from some common color palettes (Material, Tango, Google, etc.) or completely define them myself.

Describe alternatives you've considered

I installed the Custom CSS app, but have no clue what classes to overwrite. It looks like the colors are generated right now (see above) and not based on CSS, or am I wrong?

Thank you for the feature request. I do agree the default color palettes cloud be improved. But this will require input from the design team.

Thank you @SebastianKrupinski for getting on to this. Is it even possible to change it myself in an "update stable way" with, eg. Custom CSS, or would it require manual PHP/vue changes? If anyone could put me on the right track (sources or CSS), I would love tinkering with them.

Hey! I agree that the colors aren't great, however this is managed in the Nextcloud Vue repository and not here, we just use the component that it provides (https://nextcloud-vue-components.netlify.app/#/Components/NcPickers?id=nccolorpicker). The component provides a possibility to override their default color options, which we don't do.

There are two options here:

• Closing this issue and opening one in https://github.com/nextcloud-libraries/nextcloud-vue to change the default colors (https://github.com/nextcloud-libraries/nextcloud-vue/blob/0650b7dc77be7c5be84a701be3454be2bddff21f/src/utils/colors.ts#L84) of the component (probably the better way)
• Overriding the provided colors specifically in calendar

You can open the palette and paste in the hex codes manually.

Software should get out of the way. Do things automatically instead of offering configuration options

I agree that they could be brighter and more distinct, though I don't think the current ones are particularly bad. But we can tweak them to be a bit nicer.

Yeah, I don't think you should specifically for Calendar. If they were to change, I'd do so in the library in any case.
