Current Behavior
Updating from Mullvad 2026.2 to any later version results in DNS timeouts on all browsers while running the latest version of Ubuntu (2026.04, Resolute Raccoon) regardless of the DNS settings. More rarely it seems to have such slow resolution as to be unusable (think 5 to 6 minutes to load a simple webpage).
At first I thought this was because I had used custom DNS settings in the app (apparently these all get routed through Mullvad anyway . . . so I abandoned them and did a fresh install of both Ubuntu and both Mullvad 2026.3 and 2026.4, with the same results). This is happening with both of my Ubuntu computers. Purging and reinstalling Mullvad 2026.2 fixes the issue completely.
Pinging a DNS server address in the terminal takes longer than expected, but still works, yet pinging a web address fails completely, and the internet connection is fine without the VPN. I checked all of the Netplan files to see if they had errors introduced by the version update, since some Ubuntu users have found that these files can be corrupted by VPNs, and they looked okay, but honestly YAML is not in my particular skillset, so not 100% sure what the cause is. This is happening with both of my Lenovo machines running the most recent versions of Ubuntu with Mullvad VPN.
Expected Behavior
When connected to the internet via Mullvad, pages should load normally via the browser without a DNS timeout and pinging web addresses from the terminal should not fail.
