Advice on using dynamic versioning with GitHub Actions

Hi there, I'm trying to integrate poetry-dynamic-versioning into my project - I'm finding it works locally but I'm unable to get it working as part of Actions. For example, locally I ran:

pipx inject poetry "poetry-dynamic-versioning[plugin]"
poetry dynamic-versioning enable

, and added

[tool.poetry-dynamic-versioning]
enable = true
vcs = "git"
style = "semver"
tag-branch = "main"

to pyproject.toml. To test I set the version=0.0.0 and ran poetry build, and saw the correct tag. Now when I try and use this in an action, for example:

          poetry publish -r test-pypi --build

, I find I'm publishing version 0.0.0. Any ideas how to get this working? I did try adding poetry self add "poetry-dynamic-versioning[plugin]" but I got an error at poetry install.

Hi! You just need to pass fetch-depth: 0 to actions/checkout@v3. By default, it doesn't fetch the full history.

Hmm, have you already pushed your tags? (git push --tags)

Okay I ran git push --tags and it says everything is up-to-date. Linking to the repo in case it might help diagnose the problem. Any more details I can give that might help?

Oh, sorry, I thought you still had pipx inject in the workflow, but I realized I misread your first comment. Now that you have fetch-depth: 0 added, could you try re-adding either pipx inject poetry "poetry-dynamic-versioning[plugin]" or poetry self add "poetry-dynamic-versioning[plugin]"? Since it's fetching the full history now, maybe that will fix the malformed object name main error you ran into in an earlier workflow run.
