Can you use templates to determine the default tab?

Hi I would like the default tab to change based on the evaluation of a template. I note there was a discussion about this but am unsure if this was indeed implemented. This is what I have tried but can't seem to get it to work;

  type: custom:tabbed-card
  options:
    defaultTabIndex: "{% if now().hour > 17 %}2{% elif now().hour > 12 %}1{% else %}0{% endif %}"
  styles:
......

Can anyone help?
