rewrite in Go & C

This would be quite a good candidate to rewrite in Zig as this generally gets compared (wrongly) to uv. 
While this would give the tool a much more performant  user experience, it would probably get more interest if it was written in a modern  (Go) & system's (G) languages also.

This issue will represent a long term POC until if & when it gets merged.
