Because I don't mind being a maintainer, or keeping a fork of it maintained, and having features added. I am no where near an expert of ZKPs or ZK Circuits, but I am sure a good community can be grown from this.

It seems that those devs have re-wrote whole compiler with Rust.
Maybe you could ask them in this "new" GitHub repo.
