Issue Description

MELCOR support is only for Melcor 2.X series. It would be good to have support for 1.8.X series. This really boils down to the output of the simulation being recognized as good/bad

make minor changes to the MELCOR interface to allow other end of simulation records

• 4. If the issue is a defect, does it impact the latest release branch? If yes, is there any issue tagged with release (create if needed)?
• 5. If the issue is being closed without a pull request, has an explanation of why it is being closed been provided?
