It looks like there was an intention to reintroduce this at some point, but I don't see an open issue or PR for it. Is this still interesting?

@yaacovCR this would probably be a fairly trivial addition to re-add to v16 given it already exists in some form (flow?) in git history. I might open a PR for it if it's welcome.

@IvanGoncharov was this just forgotten about or was it not added back for a specific reason?
