Hi

As in my issue #3536 the installation of Python Modules can be problematic.
Therefore I suggest that pelican can be used in a portable way.
Meaning that there will be an official workflow to put pelican and plugins next to the content folder instead of using any module installer.

The typical way to solve this would be to use a virtual environment, as the error message suggested. Prompt commands would be something like this:

python3 -m venv path/to/venv
source path/to/venv/bin/activate
python3 -m pip install pelican[markdown]

The second python3 is actually running pip in the virtual environment, separated from your system Python setup.

I've read that the venv should not be used on different machines.
So when changing machines maybe you can do this:

before switching:

• writing down the used packages: pip freeze > requirements.txt

while switching:

• deleting the venv, or not sync it

after switching:

• create a new venv
• activate it
• reinstall the pachages: pip install -r requirements.txt
