Is it allowed to follow the request (https status code - 301)?

Yes a redirect is what I had in mind: on the GapWWW repo we already run a script to update everything for the release, and that script could be made to also update a redirect in .htaccess.

It shouldn't be hard, but I don't have time to do it right now, hence an issue so that I won't forget :-)
