Textured mode pressure curve cannot be set

Describe the bug
On MacOS, using the brush tool with the mouse works as expected but drawing with the pen creates invisible strokes.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Open app
2. Select brush tool
3. Draw with a pen

Expected behavior
Brush strokes drawn with the pen should be visible.

Additional context

• Strokes are drawn but are actually invisible both in the preview and in the exported file.
• I can see that they are drawn because they appear in the selection (see screenshot).
• This strokes keep being invisible even if I try to change their color.
• The laser tool works as expected even with the pen tablet.
• Shaper tool works as expected
• The brush tool doesn't work even if I set the pressure curve to constant (nothing changes).
• Tested on a fresh installation.
• My pen tablet works fine on other software.

I did a quick test with version 0.10.1 and the same problem is present. I used to write with RNote in the past and I didn't have this issue. May this be a problem of compatibility with the OS (which has been updated since then)?

Could you upload the .rnote file ? And/or active the Developper Mode and in the Developper Menu export the engine state and config ?

Okay, there's a bit of drama happening right now. I reopened v0.13.1 of the app today and it was magically working again so I was already commenting here that I'm sorry but I cannot reproduce the issue anymore. Then, just before commenting, I changed "mouse secondary action button" in the settings and the issue reappeared exactly as it was yesterday. Bringing the option back to its original value did not solve the issue. Then, exactly like I did yesterday I set the pressure curve to constant but this time it actually solved the issue! I did what you told me and downloaded the engine and config information from the developer menu.

What I've noticed is that inside InvisibleBrushEngine.json there are a lot of stroke points with pressure: 0.5, which I guess are those written with the mouse, and a lot with pressure: 0.0, which I guess are those written with the pen. This explains why the latter are invisible. So, I've tested my tablet with https://thesevenpens.github.io/HtmlTabletTester/ and it also shows pressure: 0. Yesterday I had tested the pen on a program with no pressure levels so I didn't notice the issue with my tablet.

I guess it's my fault after all. I'll work with constant pressure for now and later understand why pressure levels aren't picked up.

That being said, I do not get why setting the pressure curve to constant didn't solve the issue yesterday nor I get why changing the "mouse secondary action button" made the problem reappear.

I'm sorry to spam messages but so that you know I wasn't crazy yesterday: now I'm again having the problem even when the pressure curve is set to constant but only if the brush style is textured (marker and solid are working at constant pressure). 😢

I think the issue should be closed: it's most probably a problem with my tablet setup (drivers/macOS), Rnote is behaving in strange ways but at the end of the day the origin of the problem is not Rnote. Sorry 🙏

Right, the the issue is that only the Solid pressure curve can be changed

• The marker is always using the constant settings
• The textured one is always using the linear one (and the linear one is fully linear with 0 pressure -> 0 stroke width).

So, the only question left is whether to expose a way to change the pressure curve for the textured mode
