Bright water and flat block shading bug(?)

I noticed with the mod installed my water got quite a bit brighter. The block shading/AO looks pretty flat as well. Is this something I can toggle off, or is it a bug? I have comparisons of vanilla and ArchaicFix with Phospher toggled on and off.
