App should provide some feedback (spinner) while waiting for data to load #2 (regression?)

Summary

This was reported before in #5714 and supposed to be fixed in #5704

However, in Commons App 6.2.1 (F-droid), the spinner seems not to be present (anymore?)

Steps to reproduce

1. (optional: in Developer Options, lower Network download rate limit to make bug more visible)
2. open Commons app, select "Contributions" tab and click on a picture
3. keep swiping right to go to old (uncached) pictures

Expected behaviour

when uncached picture is encountered, spinner should be shown while we wait for picture to load

Actual behaviour

nothing is shown to user, who is left wondering what is going on

Hi, I’d like to work on this issue.

From the description, it seems the loading spinner is not being shown when an uncached image is requested in the Contributions tab. This creates a confusing user experience because there is no feedback while the image is loading.

I’m thinking of adding a loading indicator (spinner or shimmer/skeleton effect) that appears until the image is fully loaded. This should restore the expected behaviour and give the user proper feedback.

Please let me know if this approach aligns with the current design guidelines, and I can proceed with the implementation.

Hello, thank you for assigning me this problem #6638 this problem is only in samsung s23 or everywhere? And I did see no where loading animation is visible, I shall add everywhere or only in contribution image loading?
