as the abbreviation isn't any shorter. The latter is produced when groups are abbreviated.

Noted - there are some options in the Abbreviations to turn things on and off but I agree in this case it is not useful

The option internally is AUTO_CONTRACT_HETERO and AUTO_CONTRACT_TERMINAL (for carbons). The only real use-case for this (for cabrons) was when you collapse to a single label e.g. Ph-Ph => Ph2 and NC(N)N => NC(N)N. What i've now done is make ALLOW_SINGLETON do these automatically so I can turn off AUTO_CONTRACT_TERMINAL.
