Feature request: Keep highlighting when switching to nerdtree, tagbar, fugitive-commit buffers, etc etc...

You mean that both NERDtree and the last window should be highlighted as active?
IIRC there's some option for that already, but have not checked.

@blueyed I mean that nerdtree should always be highlighted and if I switch to nerdtree, the window I came from should still be highlighted.

and s/nerdtree/some other sidebar"ish" tool/ of course.

It might be useful to extend the exclusion also on floating / popup windows
