Modem manager is handling most modem in a sane way and with a common interface without needing to had to look at AT command.
It can be addressed through D-Bus easily in Python.
Any opposing to switching the modem to modem-manager ? AT command interface would still be possible either directly or through ModemManager.
Contrary to Mavproxy message, it doesn't cause issue with pixhawk anymore and in rare case a conflict with a peripheral arise, a udev flag exist to except ModemManager on some devices
