MediaInformation does it download the file?

When I just want to get MediaInformation. Does that download the whole file?

Good question!

That depends on the file type and the capabilities of the HTTP server hosting the file. MediaInformation is typically extracted from metadata in the file’s header. If the header for that file type is at the beginning, only the beginning of the file is downloaded. If the header is at the end, custom HTTP request options are used to retrieve only the last bytes of the file. If the server doesn’t support these options, however, the entire file may need to be downloaded, as there would be no other way to access the header.
