Hungs forever on opening the app

The Viz app, when opened from the Finder, does not show up on the Dock, while appearing in Activity Monitor with 0 CPU load. To find out what's going on, I tried running /Applications/Viz.app/Contents/MacOS/Viz from the Terminal.

The output is: Updater: performing update check, and it waits forever.

OS: MacOS 15.6.1 (24G90),
MacBook Pro M1.

This is a menubar app only, there is no dock icon..Do you not see it in the menubar as the "eye" icon?
