Official Instance

• The bug is reproducible on the official hosted instance, or is API-related.

Describe the bug

The video list does not load up on the official instance. And on the other instances will say "IP blocked" or "sign in to confirm that you're not a bot". And since 2024, they did not fix the issue.

To Reproduce

1. Go to piped
2. No video found
3. If I use another instance and click on video
4. Error appears

Expected behavior

Video plays normally and videos show up

Logs/Errors

No response

Browser, and OS with Version.

yeah youtube does something called sabr , i was making a music player app and this yt bast8RDS added this sabr now you cant use youtube apis without cookies , even ytdlp and youtube_Explode_dart ask for cookies and and also we need to solve js challange

Right now, it's pretty dead, yes. Until SABR support and a few other auth/token/etc things get added, Piped isn't going to work for 90% of videos, and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of urgency from the maintainers in merging the various scripts, fixes, merges, and workarounds that the community has created. It typically takes months for upstream fixes in the extractor to be applied as well. Just being super careful maybe? But it does cause a lot of latency.

You can cobble together a semi-working piped instance by using the logicalkarma/piped:experimental images (fair warning, the experimental images support SABR, but also have some AI code, the stable has no ai code but also no SABR support) along with the bg-helper-server from 1337kavin.

But it's very fragile, often has 1001, 7001, and "Must sign in"/"must confirm you aren't a bot" errors, and many videos can only load the first 60 seconds and no more.

In a few months, I suspect piped will be more-or-less working again, but for right now, no, it basically just doesn't work.

Yes if you use the YouTube with android vr client it will work it will not ask for anything ,but I have tried that but I got very bad audio quality,it's just a temporary fix I know yotube will apply sabr later on it too

Invidious still works, newpipe on mobile, etc etc.

logicalkarma is working on getting his code mainlined as well, but it's going to take a bit in their words. Until then his/her branch sorta works, maybe about 20-30% of the time it has problems though. Up to you if that's worth.

EDIT: lmao, RIGHT as I said that, youtube rolled out API changes that broke invidious: iv-org/invidious#5817 but it looks like they're already finding bypasses for invidious, so maybe a day or two it will work.

The sheer timing is amusing though.
