Author - change the template. Instead of affiliation, we should ask for the ROR

I would not directly jump in to the ROR thingy by only asking for ROR. This identifier is not yet that well know within the community. Moreover: "ROR is focused on being a top-level registry of organizations so we can address the fundamental affiliation use case and provide a critical source of metadata that can interoperate with other institutional identifiers. ROR is therefore not focused on mapping university departments and similar sub-units within institutions." (Ref.: https://ror.org/registry/)

Example 1: There might be an author from Jena having ROR https://ror.org/05qpz1x62, while the affiliation the author want to provide is, e.g., "Institute for Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry, Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, Lessingstr. 8, 07743 Jena, Germany".

Hence, ROR might be provided in author details in nmrXiv, but authors should be also allowed to edit the affiliations manually, if the fields on affiliation are pre-filled via the ROR.

Example 2: There is a ROR for Cornell University https://ror.org/05bnh6r87, while some people from Cornell University are associated with the University Library, which does not have a ROR yet. Possibly, the University Library is independent of the University itself. If it is only asked for ROR, than the affiliation is the top-level affiliation, which might not fit to what the user expects. Users might want to manually edit their affiliations AND (in case the university library is a separate institution, which is the case for some Universities, not necessarily Cornell University Library) notice that their ROR is missing, they might apply for an ROR via https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdJYaMTCwS7muuTa-B_CnAtCSkKzt19lkirAKG4u7umH9Nosg/viewform .

A way of retrieving the affiliations, as the authors wants them to show up, is to get this information from the ORCID record, as this record is maintained by the authors itself. Nevertheless, there should be probably still the possibility to edit the affiliations manually, after the corresponding fields in nmrXiv are pre-filled.

Example 1: User notices that some info in his ORCID record is not the way as he wants it to presented in nmrXiv, hence, he will manually edit the affiliation AND (might) update his ORCID record (or the other way around).

Example 2: There is a data steward who uploads the data to nmrXiv on the behalf of the authors. The data steward notices, that the author does not use the ORCID record, hence, there is no information on affiliations which can be retrieved and the data steward wants to manually add the affiliation AND will possibly write a message to the author to ask for an update of his record.

Nevertheless, ROR is still an identifier for the top-level of the organisations and ORCID iD is still an identifier of the author and what is displayed as affiliation might not 100% map to the ORCID record of the corresponding ORCID iD or the ROR provided.

That it does not 100% map is caused for ROR by design and with the ORCID record by the degree of maintenance an author invests in his ORCID record.
