Currently the load time for the component is significant. There seems to be a delay of nearly a second during page load due to 4 XHR calls and an iframe.
Ideally, a minimal component consisting of an icon (and an optional label) should appear. The developer should have the option to style the icon and label to suit their needs. Clicking on the button should then launch the hangout in a separate window.
