Comprehensive Unit Testing

Create a comprehensive tests/ directory to include both unit tests and code-quality checks for every commit/PR. These should check both the physics and code.

Hi @GeorgeVassilakis, I see there are some tests already. Do you have a defined scope for this task, such as:

1. Cover remaining files
2. Run automated ci testing
