Would the rights holder to EDDI be willing to allow a Linux Port Fork? #2773

Hi Joe, Thanks for reaching out and offering to take this on. EDDI is open-source, so you’re free to create a Linux port as long as you follow the project’s license: That said, I’m not looking to split the project into separate Windows and Linux forks. If you want this to have a chance of being adopted upstream, I believe the best path is to coordinate the work in the main repo and submit it as PRs (ideally in small, reviewable pieces). A key constraint today is that the repository is currently on .NET Framework 4.8, which effectively ties it to Windows. A real Linux port will likely depend on moving to a newer, cross-platform .NET version and addressing any Windows-only dependencies. I do intend to move EDDI to a newer .NET revision for compatibility with VoiceAttack 2 and that should make multi-platform support more practical in the future. In the meantime, there is an existing Linux workaround reported here: o7 commander! Cmdr T'kael |

I'd like to try and port to Linux including making an API port allowing a linux voice recognition/ scripting tool to integrate with Linux EDDI (LEDDI anyone?) like voice attack does on Windows .. alas VoiceAttack does not seem to want to even start enough to fgenerate a failure log. I wouild als include the install package for RPM and Debian packages if approved to do such. I'm not asking the current dev to port it, I'm offering to port it if granted permission.
Sincerely,
Joe Greeene Cmdr Volgcalwtooth o7
