Surface Patterns

Imagine I am looking at a vase, but I want to take a strip pattern I have used as wallpaper previously, and wrap that pattern around the vase.

Surface patterns would be most notable for wrapping across blocks, and kind of acting like a paintbrush which could paint around the corners of walls.

I have no idea how this could be implemented, it's essentially like texturing a 3D model. But I just thought it was a cool idea.

You can do that already using the placement mode colorize.
