BHDR is one component of CipherExplain — the encrypted-explainability
platform from VaultBytes. The deployable product (SaaS, on-prem, OEM)
is licensed separately under its own commercial terms.

This repository ships the BHDR regression kernel only, for research,
reproducibility, and patent-claim disclosure.


Kernel licensing summary
------------------------

bhdr-oss (this repository) is offered under three independent
licenses. See LICENSING.md for guidance on which one applies to your
kernel-level deployment. CipherExplain product customers do not need
to negotiate these separately — the product license covers them.

  1. AGPL-3.0-or-later (default, free)
       — covers source code copyright
       — see LICENSE
  2. VaultBytes Commercial License (paid)
       — same source code, non-AGPL terms, indemnity, SLA
       — see LICENSE-COMMERCIAL.md
  3. VaultBytes Patent License (paid)
       — license to the method claims of PCT/IB2026/053405,
         independent of source code
       — see LICENSE-PATENT.md

There is no closed-source build, no feature paywall, and no telemetry
hidden in a proprietary fork. The same Git tags ship to all licensees.


Patent notice
-------------

This repository contains software related to pending PCT patent
application:

  PCT/IB2026/053405 — System and Method for Computing Shapley Additive
  Explanations under Fully Homomorphic Encryption Using Compressed
  Coalition Sampling

Patent status: PENDING.

The AGPL license on this repository grants no patent rights except to
the minimum extent, if any, expressly required by AGPL-3.0 §11 itself.
The VaultBytes Commercial License grants a covenant-not-to-sue scoped
to the licensed bhdr-oss deployment. A standalone patent license under
LICENSE-PATENT.md is required for clean-room reimplementations, ports
to other FHE libraries, hardware accelerators, and OEM embedding.


Trademarks
----------

BHDR, CipherExplain, and VaultBytes are trademarks of VaultBytes
Innovations Ltd. AGPL forks may not use the trademarks beyond
reasonable nominative use ("powered by BHDR").
