China upgrade server not responding

I am using the following link to do a AnduinOS version upgrade, but the server seems to be down as of January 16, 2026

Is this the correct link?

Oh you are still using 1.0 right? 1.0 will not get further builds. So the binary you got on the website is always the latest. Simply use the apt upgrade to upgrade it.

I could be still on 1.0.7, do I have to do incremental upgrades to get to 1.4.2?

Emmm...

To upgrade to 1.4.2, you can follow these steps:

• First, use any editor like vim or nano to edit the file /etc/apt/sources.list. Replace jammy with questing.
• Run sudo apt install -y coreutils-from-uutils
• Run sudo apt -s dist-upgrade to upgrade all packages to questing.
• Then, use any editor like vim or nano to edit the file /etc/os-release. Replace 1.0.7 with 1.4.2.
• Then, use any editor like vim or nano to edit the file /etc/lsb-release. Replace 1.0.7 with 1.4.2.
• Finally, download the 1.4.2 ISO file. Mount it. And run: ./REPAIR.sh in the root folder of the ISO. That's it.

This is very risky! Backup all critical data before proceeding!

Good day, I followed your upgrade instructions, updated the apt repositories and changed references in os-release & lsb-release from 1.0.7 to 1.4.2 I downloaded and mounted the the 1.4.2 iso and ran the repair.sh The enclosed screenshot shows the results. The airsoft.cn server times out. As you can see, it fails with broken packages. I ran apt install -f to fix broken packages, but to no avail. Do you think I missed something? Thanks, Douglas

Looks like I was able to resolve my issue with the upgrade to 1.4.2
The repair script failed, but I was able to just run apt upgrade and it completed my upgrade to 1.4.2

I jumped the gun, info tells me I'm running 1.4.2 but when I do a: apt full-upgrade, it lists 1,197 held packages.
And when I run the repair script, Repair.sh from the mounted ISO, I get the following:

Good day,
I ran the apt-mark commands, and I think only one that was being held was the base-files
I ran the repair script and it started normally...it stopped on a command window asking if I wanted to automatically restart services without prompting...I chose to start without prompt.
It continued, but shortly stopped and logged me out of my session.

I logged back in and re-ran the repair script, but it failed the system check as shown below:

Your system is currently in a "mixed" state—it is trying to install very new core libraries (from the Ubuntu 25.10 base) while some files from the old system (Ubuntu 22.04 era) are still present and locking the file paths. We have never tested an upgrade path this large (jumping directly from 1.0.x to 1.4.x). We only validated the upgrade path from 1.3 to 1.4. Your system is currently a mix of very old and very new components, which can be highly unstable.

My Best Recommendation:
If you have the ability to back up your data (the /home folder), a clean installation of AnduinOS 1.4.2 is the safest and most stable option. It will avoid all these "ghosts" from the old version.

However, if you want to try and force the repair on the current system, here are the steps to break out of this loop.

Option 1: Force Overwrite (Try this first)

The error trying to overwrite ... means the package manager is afraid to replace an old file with a new one. We can tell it to force the action.

Run this command:

sudo apt -o Dpkg::Options::="--force-overwrite" --fix-broken install

If this completes successfully, run sudo apt full-upgrade again to finish.

Option 2: Remove the Conflict (If Option 1 fails)

If forcing it doesn't work, we need to manually remove the specific package blocking the path (libc6-dev).

Run these commands:

# Force remove the old development headers
sudo dpkg -r --force-depends libc6-dev

# Try to fix the dependencies again
sudo apt --fix-broken install

Let me know if this unsticks the update process, but again—please keep backups handy!

Good day Anduin,
I tried your recent suggestions but unfortunately things only got worse.
It got to the point that system files were missing, or incorrect versions, and networking would not load and then on reboot, it wouldn't start normally, only in maintenance mode.
So I had saved my data and just reinstalled with v1.4.2
Everything is great now, thanks for your assistance.
Lesson learned.

Ah, the "nuclear option" it is then! 😅

To be honest, that was the expected outcome given the massive version gap. Once libc (the core C library) gets mismatched/corrupted during a live upgrade, it often breaks the very tools (like network manager, apt, and even init system) needed to fix it. It becomes a chicken-and-egg problem.

I'm glad to hear the fresh install worked out. It's definitely the cleanest way to go, and your system will be much lighter without the legacy config files.
